Karishma Gurung is affiliated to ForestAction as a researcher. Karishma Gurung holds a Masters degree in Agribusiness Management from The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University (ICFAI), Tripura, India and Bachelors degree from The Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS), Tribhuwan University, Rampur, Chitwan.
Ms Gurung has been working as a researcher and engaged in policy research and advocacy. She also coordinates the Alliance of Agriculture for Food (AAF) – a loose network of farmers, civil society organizations and agriculture activists. She is also actively involved in review and analysis on food, agriculture and land and other relevant aspects of agriculture including economics and population dynamics in agriculture as to draw the lessons from issues, challenges and gaps sectors along with review and synthesis of past and ongoing programme/projects. She is also engaged in supporting to establish trials, monitoring and writing results of technical aspects of agriculture in remote areas of Nepal.
Her current research interest are focused on economic empowerment of women farmers, feminization in agriculture, women friendly agriculture technologies, agriculture budgeting and devolution system of Nepal, promotion and value addition of Local crops, advocacy and lobbing on policy issues of food, agriculture and land; and mountain agriculture and its diversity.
