ForestAction Nepal and Nepal Foresters’ Association jointly organized a policy dialogue on “Forest Tenure Reform in Nepal: What role for implementers?” on 24 November 2017 at Indreni Foodland. The dialogue mainly focused underlining issues particularly on divided roles of different government agencies at the local, provincial and national levels and on the co-existence, collaboration, and cooperation across governance levels and various actors for forest governance. Findings of a survey conducted among forest tenure reform implementers working under the Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation including frontline forestry officials and those working at the national level was shared during the program.
The policy dialogue comprised of two presentations: “Global comparative study on tenure reform implementation” and “Implementers’ perspective on forest tenure reform in Nepal” by Dr. Mani Ram Banjade and Mr. Krishna P Pokharel respectively. The presentations were followed by a plenary discussion which was moderated by Dr. Naya Sharma.
