Ramesh Sunam is currently a Ph.D scholar at the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University (ANU) where he also received his Masters degree. He is currently researching into agrarian change and food security in Nepal. The key focus of his research is on the effects of agrarian change and outmigration on the livelihoods of the poor. Prior to starting his Ph.D, Mr. Sunam worked for a Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)- funded project for about two years.
Mr. Sunam has extensive research and professional experience in forest governance, agriculture and rural development. He has published some research articles and policy papers on community forestry, forest policy process, and climate change mitigation. Agrarian change in the global south, resource governance and political economy are key areas of his research interest.
