Revitalising community forestry in Nepal Achievements and lessons from EnLiFT project

This legacy book is a compilation of research paper series produced in the course of eleven years of Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the action research project ‘Enhancing livelihoods from improved forest management (EnLiFT)’, in the midhills of Nepal implemented during 2013-2024. The book draws on lessons and experiential insights of the researchers based on their engagement with the community groups and stakeholders during the project period. This legacy book is believed to serve as a handy knowledge source for those involved in promoting livelihoods through forest management and enterprise promotion.

The book is a collection of 11 chapters written by EnLiFT phase 2 researchers. The chapters provide both methodological approaches and findings of the action research on forest management in community forestry and private land of the midhills. The chapters cover a range of themes including silviculture, forest management, gender equity, forest-based enterprises, research-policy linkage, and nursery management among others.

This book will serve as a resource for students, researchers, development practitioners and policymakers working in the field of forestry, natural resource management and policy. By providing ground reality and evidence based findings, the book will also provide guidance for future interventions on ecological sustainability and socio-economic growth.
