Program Officer (Full-time)

ForestAction Nepal (www.forestaction.org) is looking for a Program Officer (full-time) to support the implementation of a climate change adaptation project. The candidate is expected to support project planning and implementation, conducting community vulnerability need assessments, coordinating field activities, facilitating multistakeholder action labs, document project learning, and preparing project reports and knowledge products.

The candidate is expected to work independently and closely with local governments, communities, civil society organizations, researchers and other stakeholders to support in co-designing locally appropriate and bankable adaptation solutions. The work involves frequent travel to field and will require clear interpersonal communication skills and ability to organize meetings with community members to professionals.

Desired qualifications and experience:

• At least MSc in Environmental Science/Management, Natural Resource Management or other relevant fields, preferably with specialization in climate change.
• Demonstrated professional experience of working in implementation of climate change projects (2-3 years).
• Experience in climate change vulnerability, need and risk assessments, designing and implementing adaptation projects.
• Experience in organizing and facilitating multi-stakeholder consultations at the local level, particularly with local governments and communities, will be an added advantage.
• Strong project coordination, report writing, communication, and facilitation skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to travel frequently to project sites.
