Maoist conflict, community forestry and livelihoods: pro-poor innovations in forest management in Nepal.

In this article, we challenge this dichotomy in the context of the decade‐old (1996‐2006) Maoist Insurgency. Our argument is that despite its negative impact on development in general and specifically on the technical aspect of community forest management, the Maoist conflict has in several ways generated local pressures for pro‐poor change.
