Ministry of Agricultural Development (MoAD) along with Department of Agriculture and Alliance of Agriculture for Food organized a program on 6 November 2017 with a view to celebrate 37th World Food Day. The major objectives of the program were to honor the best farmers from different parts of the Nepal and to showcase the food items and agricultural products used throughout the country. Hardworking farmers involved in different sectors like livestock production, paddy production, fish farming, organic farming and vegetable farming were awarded during the event. Representing Alliance of Agriculture for Food Dr. Krishna Paudel acknowledged the farmers for their hard work and suggested the stakeholders to rightly address the issues of farmers.
Agricultural products from Jumla, Humla, Dolpa, Bajura, Mugu, Nawalparasi and Kathmandu were displayed in the exhibition. Local products of Karnali region like Proso millet (Chino), foxtail millet (Kaguno), Jumlimarshi rice, beans, apple, wallnuts, amaranthus, handmade knitted woolen items and organic ginger from Nawalparasi were displayed in the stall. Descriptions regarding the name of the product, nutritional and medicinal values of the products were clearly mentioned and were also briefed in detail by the volunteers. The products were observed with great interest by the public.
