Press release: Demanding to make Agriculture Development Strategy public

The National Federation of Farmer’s Group and Food and Sustainable Agriculture Initiative, released the press note to make the Agriculture Development Strategy (ADS) public on 24 July, 2013. The major demands in the note are:

  • In the context of completion and submission of the proposed strategy, it should be made public along with sources of its resources and expenditure.
  • The review of documents, provided in the website of Ministry of Agriculture Development, indicates that the ADS is focused on high input agriculture practices which is inappropriate for Nepalese agricultural system. Therefore, there is need to form a review committee comprising of representatives from various stakeholders
  • A lot of farmers cannot able to read English, therefore at least some parts of the strategy should be prepared in Nepalese.
