Amrit Adhikari has over two decades of experience in Institutional development and financial management. He has served in diverse organizations including NGO, private and Non-profit sharing company at the capacity of Executive Chair, Organization development expert, Office manager, Finance Advisor, and Chief of Operation and Finance. He holds management experience of handling the finances of projects funded by ACIAR, DFID, EU, Darwin Initiative, USAID, GIZ, CGIAR, IDRC, CIDA, IUCN, The World Bank, etc. During the period, he gained professional experience and insights in managing financial, administrative and human resource issues in development context dwelling on the leading position. His strategic vision and unwavering dedication ushered relentless excellence, propelling institutions and social networks to a new heights of success.

Mr. Adhikari is currently serving as the Institutional Development expert and Coordinator-Operations and Finance of ForestAction Nepal, with key responsibilities including overall management, everyday administration, ensuring organizational policy compliance and closely monitor the project within the delivery deadline, as well as program budget vs expenses to facilitate the project leader. He also supports and monitor editing, designing and production management of ForestAction publications. He holds double Master’s degree in Public Administration and Sociology.

He served as a chief editor of four volume of Begnas Magazine, as well as the editorial coordinator of two volume of Hamro Ban Sampada. Furthermore, orchestrating his propensity from writing script, oped, conceptualizing and directing visual documentaries and being an article reviewer of Hamro Ban Sampada.

Birendra Kumar Karna, PhD

Birendra K. Karna has a PhD in Natural Resources Management from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, and a MSc and a MA degree in Botany and Anthropology respectively from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. His PhD dissertation on Impact of Armed Conflict on Community-Based Forest Governance and Management in Nepal was evaluated as “Excellent” by the external examiner, Nobel Laureate Professor Elinor Ostrom of Indiana University. He is a natural resources management (NRM) professional with 12 years of experiences in research and development of common property institutions, and climate change especially in area of community-based forest management and community-based climate change adaptation.

Prior to holding a position at ForestAction Nepal, Mr. Karna has served as Research Program Co-director at the Nepal Forest Resources and Institutions (NFRI) for eight years, where his major responsibilities included coordination of research in Nepal with Indiana University and University of Michigan, USA.; liaison with funding agencies; study design and execution research projects funded by and carried out for the HMGN/FAO/IFAD, Parks and People Project of UNDP, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nation, the Ford Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation and the Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis, Indiana University, USA.

Mr. Dipesh Nepal is a young accomplished researcher with intensive knowledge and expertise in agriculture. After completing his Bachelor’s in agriculture, Mr. Nepal further expands his academic knowledge by pursuing a master’s degree in Agriculture Extension. His research portfolio falls majorly in important issues such as natural resource management and regenerative agriculture. Aside from his research, he also presents extensive skills in workshop organization, collaborations, and assisting farmers to adopt eco-friendly practices. Through his work and knowledge, Mr. Nepal is committed to enhancing agriculture resilience through agroecology principles and implications.

Dipika Badal

 

 

 

 

 

Dipika Badal is a skilled forestry professional and researcher, with a specialization in forestry, remote sensing, and GIS technologies. She earned her M.Sc. in Forestry from the College of Forestry, Wildlife, and Environment, Auburn University. Her expertise lies at the intersection of GIS and Remote Sensing, spatial modelling, and forest ecology, with a strong focus on natural resource management. Beyond academics, she has directed a nonprofit organization and led different national-scale projects, showcasing her leadership in governance, strategic planning, and project development. Her diverse experience, from advanced geospatial analysis to leadership in nonprofit management, positions her as an emerging expert in forestry research and natural resource management, particularly in applying cutting-edge technologies to solve environmental challenges. Ms Badal is currently working as a Researcher at ForestAction Nepal with engagement in various research related to forestry.

Ms. Harshita Thapa is a dynamic youth enthusiastic about environmental sustainability, climate change, and gender issues. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Development Studies and is currently advancing her education by pursuing a Master’s degree in Development Studies at Kathmandu University. Ms. Thapa is presently based in ForestAction Nepal as a Knowledgement Management Officer. She is keen on expanding her knowledge in the forestry and environment sector at the organization through collaboration with various stakeholders and research.

Hemant Raj Ojha, PhD

Hemant Ojha has over 18 years of experience in research, development actions and post-graduate teaching. He is a founder of ForestAction Nepal where he served for 10 years as team leader, executive coordinator and board chair. He has recently co-founded Southasia Institute of Advanced Studies (SIAS) based in Kathmandu. He did doctoral research in Development Studies (with a focus on Natural Resource Governance) from School of Development Studies, University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK. His research spans a wide range of issues related to society and environment.

Mr. Ojha has ongoing research collaboration with several Universities in Southasia and outside, including University of Toronto (Geography), University of Edinburgh (Geography), University of Michigan (Environment), Australian National University, University of Melbourne, The University of Sydney, and Tribhuvan University. He has also served as researcher/specialist/consultant for several and international agencies, including USAID, DFID, IDRC, ADB and others.

Kamal Prasad Bhandari

Kamal Bhandari holds a Masters degree from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He has 16 years long working experience in the field of development, particularly in Natural Resource Management, Participatory forest Management, Climate Change, Livelihoods  Governance Reform and Capacity Building from different organizations of Nepal. As a development worker, he has visited over 56 districts out of 75 of Nepal.

Mr. Bhandari is currently engaged as a training and advocacy specialist in ForestAction Nepal. He has published serveral articles in different national and international journals. He has published a book named ‘Energy’ for social tranformation. As training and advocacy specialist, he has organized many training in differnt theme like forest goverance and livelihoods, climate change and food security, Climate adaptationa and mitigation, leadership, gender and social inclusion etc.

Krishna Prasad Paudel, PhD

Krishna Prasad Paudel holds a Ph.D degree from Reading University, UK. He has a vast working experience of more than 25 years in community development including community based natural resource management – focused work on field studies, assessment of policy research and development projects. Currently, he is engaged in sustainable agriculture and food security, studying local food system, livelihoods and its political economy/ecology, networking with practitioners, organic intellectuals and policy makers in promoting sustainable agriculture in Nepal.

Mr. Paudel also has a strong background in the study design, analysis, presentation and advocacy of the policy research in natural resources specifically on community forestry, sustainable agriculture and food security and has gained extensive experiences in the participatory learning and action approach to development. He has authored/co-authored a number of research papers, study reports. Moreover, he is engaged with ACIAR funded project called ‘Enhancing Food Security and Livelihood from Agro-forestry and Community Forestry’ EnLiFT (FST-2011-076) in a capacity of Action research coordinator.

Jailab Rai

Jailab Rai holds a Masters degree in Anthropology, with specialization in Natural Resources Management. Currently, he is a Ph.D scholar in Anthropology at Tribhuvan University Nepal and is also associated with the Central Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu as a teaching faculty.

Mr. Rai is working as a researcher in ForestAction Nepal. His area of interest includes social exclusion and inclusion, issues and knowledge of indigenous peoples, climate change, biodiversity conservation, natural resources governance and policy issues, and community rights on natural resources. He has published a range of articles, books, booklets, and policy briefs in diverse issues. Mr. Rai has also presented papers on different themes and issues in various national and international forums and has more than 10 years of working experience in various research projects including teaching.
